Hospice of Palm Beach County has cared for nearly 70,000 patients and their families and averages 1,200 patients daily. In addition to 889 full time, part time and Per Diem employees Hospice of Palm Beach County currently utilizes 600 volunteers.
Some volunteers may have professional skills or specialized expertise, but most are just people who want to help their friends and neighbors and serve the community.
Volunteers are an essential part of the Hospice of Palm Beach County's philosophy of care which recognizes that dying is not just a medical event but a personal one as well. Volunteers are important members of an interdisciplinary team working to deinstitutionalize the dying experience. Our mission is to provide a more humane system of care for the dying and their families.
